Family Promise
FAMILY PROMISE AT CONGREGATION ALBERT
FAMILY PROMISE AT CONGREGATION ALBERT IS ON HOLD DUE TO COVID-19.
However, volunteers are still engaging families away from Congregation Albert.
Some of the following information may be out of date:
Family Promise (formerly the Interfaith Hospitality Network (IHN)) provides shelter, meals and support services to families seeking permanent housing.
Albuquerque is the 104th city to implement a Family Promise program, and there are 10 congregations involved with Family Promise in our area.
If you have not had the opportunity to volunteer – now is the time! We will need many volunteers to buy food, cook meals, sleep over, drive the van, set-up and clean-up, do laundry, and participate in activities. You do not need to attend orientation if you are doing laundry, setting up, or cleaning up.

Congregation Albert became involved with Family Promise (then IHN) in the spring of 2007, and hosts families approximately 5 times throughout the year for one week each time. We provide lodging, meals and welcoming care for our guests.
The Congregation Albert Family Promise Project operates solely on donations from our members. People donate funds for guest needs and activities, but the most valuable donation is that of time: time to spend the night with our guests, time to prepare and share meals, time to shop for food for lunches and breakfasts, time to drive the Family Promise van to transport guests, time to do laundry after each visit, time to help chaperone weekend activities, time to help with set up and break down Family Promise accommodations, and time to interact with our guests with respect and compassion.
During the day, children are in school or summer programs and parents are at work or at the Day Center working with the Family Promise Director to find housing and employment, and to connect with other social service agencies. The guests can do laundry there as well as take advantage of the shower facilities. In the evenings and on weekends the families are with us at Congregation Albert.
Congregation Albert members of all ages have given selflessly of their time and resources to this project. You would be amazed at how giving a little of your time can truly help to repair our world. We hope you will join us soon!
