SOCIAL ACTION COMMITTEE
The Congregation Albert Social Action Committee (CASAC) works to educate, motivate, direct, and support congregation efforts to further identify, understand, and alleviate social injustice in our community as a way to fulfill tikkun olam. The CASAC upholds our mission by providing members with opportunities to engage in projects, events, and educational activities that are rooted in Torah and Reform Jewish values. The CASAC is currently chaired by Rebecca Trujillo-Bennett and Jessica Ward.
Examples of our work over the years include assisting asylum seekers, hosting blood drives, collecting and donating clothing and food, sponsoring guest speakers, and hosting book clubs.
We are a welcoming, inclusive, multi-age committee (even teens can join!), always looking for new members who want to participate at any level. We meet on the third Thursday of the month in-person (COVID restrictions permitting) and on Zoom. For questions, more information, or a Zoom link to our next meeting, e-mail us at casocialjustice@congregationalbert.org.
Book and Film Club
Join us for the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society (HIAS) Book and Film Club sponsored by the Social Action committee. Together, we will explore the experiences of refugees and immigrants through print and film.

Did you know??
All Congregation Albert staff are trained in first aid, CPR, and AED for children and adults!
But just because we know how to do it doesn't mean we want you to need it.
In the wake of the recent Congregation Beth Israel situation in Colleyville, Texas, we are keenly aware of how critical security is for Jewish institutions. While Congregation Albert has made significant security upgrades in the past few years, the work is not yet complete. Our Security Committee has made specific recommendations for security-related investments that we need your help to implement. Our goal is to raise at least $100,000 to address these gaps in our security system.
